Friday March 3rd Character Spirit Day: Students who would like to participate can come to school dressed up as their favorite book character, but they must bring a book cover (or picture of a cover) to show with it.  Students who are dressed up will participate in a “character parade” down the hallway at 2:15pm. Students will meet outside the south doors at 2:05 (depending on weather), then get into a grade level order and walk through the hallway. Parents and families,

Math Fellows
Math Fellows at Colfax Elementary School

Our wonderful Math Fellows continue doing a great job supporting our students in Math at Colfax Elementary. We are lucky to have Kristen (Cheetah) Lindquester, Thy Thy Nguyen, Rey Hernandez, and Emily Saylor working with our students every day. The Math Fellows schedules have recently changed in response to our 4th and 5th graders needing more instructional time to receive Science and Social Studies instruction. We appreciate our Math Fellows being willing to work with us to best support our students in all content areas and look forward to their continued support! If you have any questions about the schedule change, please speak to your child’s teacher or one of our wonderful Math Fellows. [Read more...]

February Tiger Tales

February 2017

Dear Colfax Families,

Thank you for your continued support and help at Colfax! We appreciate all of your suggestions and feedback!

We had an incredible Trimester Awards assembly on Friday, January 13th. Thank you to all of the parents, families and friends who joined us for this special day. We are very proud of our students who earned the awards based upon their report card grades.

I want to provide everyone with an update on our “ACCESS” assessment that has been taking place. “ACCESS” is an annual assessment that assesses social and academic English language development in the areas of Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.  It is a state required assessment that meets the federal requirements for monitoring English Learners. All students in grades K-5 who have been identified as English learners are required to take the assessment. I am very happy to announce we have completed administering the Reading, Writing and Listening ACCESS assessment to students and we are now working on completing the make-up assessments. We have also started administering the Kindergarten ACCESS assessment.  If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher or the main office at 720-424-8740.

We want to wish Brittany Buck, our school Social Worker, the best of luck in her new endeavors. We will miss her very much. Brittany is pursuing opportunities outside of the education field and we wish her the best of luck. We will be supported by district staff during this transition time and we are grateful for the support. We are eager to hire someone to fill the vacancy. [Read more...]
