CarsonReadingRoomBen Carson Reading Project
The Ben Carson Reading Project is an initiative of the Carson Scholars Fund. The purpose of the project is to create a literacy enriched environment for children to develop their reading skills. The reading project is dedicated to promoting leisure reading as a key to unlocking a child’s full potential. Colfax Elementary hosts a Ben Carson Reading Room where students are able to read for pleasure.


BienvenidosBienvenidos Food Bank
The Bienvenidos Food Bank’s mission is to provide emergency and supplemental food assistance in ways that promote respect and dignity. The Bienvenidos Food Bank maintains a supply of food at Colfax for families in need


Blessings in a Backpack
BlessingsinaBackpackBlessings in a Backpack provides selected Colfax students with a backpack of food to take home for 38 weekends during the school year. Backpack food includes easy-to-prepare, ready-to-eat foods, like granola bars, juice boxes, mac and cheese, and oatmeal.


Boy Scouts of America
BoyScoutsThe Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. Boys at Colfax are able to participate in Boy Scouts after school through the Neighborhood Center.


CharacterLab

Character Lab
Character Lab is a non-profit bridging the science of character development with the daily work of teaching so all kids can fulfill their potential.


Denver 4-H
Denver4HDenver 4-H is Colorado State University’s youth development program. At Colfax students are involved in movement, choreography and dance performances.


Denver Math Fellows
DenverMathFellowsDenver Math Fellow’s mission is to close the opportunity gap by providing small group math instruction for our highest need students in order to accelerate their academic growth in preparation for college and career.


The Fitness League
UCDenverStudents from the University of Colorado lead the Fitness League at Colfax, weekly hour-long sessions of diverse physical activity programming. This year students will be traveling to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Students are able to sign up for this opportunity through the Neighborhood Center.


Focus on Results
PCGEducationFor more than a decade, PCG Education has been working across the United States and Canada with Pre-K to 12 administrators and teachers to strengthen instruction and learning. Using their proven Seven Areas of Focus framework, Focus on Results supports Colfax Elementary foster excellence in teaching and learning in every classroom.


GirlsInc

Girls Inc. of Metro Denver
Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be Strong, Smart, and Bold through life-changing programs and experiences that help girls navigate gender, economic, and social barriers. Programs are research-based and delivered by trained, mentoring professionals in a positive all-girl environment. Students participate in sports, science, technology, economics, math, self-defense and jump rope activities.


OWLOpenWorld Learning
OpenWorld Learning provides a fun and challenging after-school educational program centered on teaching advanced computer technology to Denver area students. Third through fifth graders at Colfax Elementary have the opportunity to participate in OWL after school.


StickyFingersSticky Fingers Cooking
Sticky Fingers Cooking has encouraged thousands of young chefs to explore exciting new tastes and learn kid-safe culinary skills (that they can put to use in family kitchens!). Colfax students can enroll in this program after school through the Neighborhood Center.


WhizKidsWhiz Kids Tutoring
Whiz Kids’ mission is to help improve the lives of disadvantaged elementary and middle school kids through academic tutoring, positive mentoring relationships and spiritual nurture. Many Colfax students receive tutoring from community volunteers to improve their academic skills.
