Tiger Tales March 8th

Dear Colfax Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I write to let you know that due to a wonderful family opportunity, I will not be returning as the Assistant Principal at Colfax Elementary for the 2018-2019 school year. My husband, also an educator, was recently offered an opportunity to pursue his dream job at Alabama State University. Although it is an opportunity, we felt we could not pass up, the ultimate decision was incredibly difficult. I had found a home here in Colorado and specifically at our school. In the end, the opportunity allows me to spend more time with my almost-6 month old son, Kade, which is an incredible blessing.

It has taken me almost two weeks to write this letter because I have struggled in finding the words to express how much the last three years have meant to me. They have been full of learning, challenge, and celebration. I am overwhelmingly proud and humbled by what our school has accomplished and know that there is so much more to come. I cannot thank you enough for helping to shape the educator, leader and person I am today. Our staff, students and community have become my family and stolen my heart.

I am confident to say that not a day will go by that I will not think of Colfax and wish I could be in two places at once.

Always a Colfax Tiger,

Jackie Bretl, Assistant Principal

Colfax Elementary

Dear Colfax Families,

As you have read, our dearest Ms. Jackie (Assistant Principal) will not be returning the following school year. I am incredibly excited for the new adventure her family is embarking on and that she will get to spend more time with her beautiful, six month old, Kade. She will be greatly missed, though. Jackie has been an incredible asset to our community. Her caring heart and savvy brain have helped Colfax through the many leadership transitions it has gone though in the past three years.  I want to assure you that we will be diligent in our process in selecting the next assistant principal for Colfax Elementary. Please trust that the hiring committee, Ms. Jackie and myself will select the best person for our community. As soon as someone is selected we will start phasing them into our wonderful school with an introductory letter and asking them to spend time here so that students, staff and you all can start getting to know him/her. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Warmly,

Sandra Berumen

Principal
