Dear Colfax Families,
As the 20-21 school year wraps up, I want to (re)introduce myself as your next principal at Colfax Elementary. As some of you already know, I am a Denver Native, attended DPS, and I am finishing my 23rd year in education. The last 13 years of my career have been serving the Northwest community. I am thrilled to be joining the Colfax family this August. Over the past couple of weeks, I have been connecting with students, meeting families over zoom meetings as well as in person, and spending time with the staff. I appreciate how welcoming everyone has been and I am looking forward to coming together again in August to launch strongly with our Colfax Community.
Before we head into summer break, I want to provide some important information including important dates to keep on the calendar:
Registration: August 3rd 8:00am – 2:00pm August 4th 12:00pm – 6:00pm
*More communication will be sent over the summer about the logistics regarding safety protocols to follow for this day. First Day of School: Monday, August 23rd
School Hours: More information will be communicated about returning to an 8:00am – 3:00pm schedule
Remote Learning: We are returning to in-person learning next school year. If you are interested in remote learning for next year, this will not take place at Colfax or with Colfax staff. This is a District run operation and you must secure your spot by June 4th if you want this option for your student. Once your decision is made, it cannot be changed for the school year.
Summer Opportunities: Please check the Colfax Website for information, https://colfax.dpsk12.org/
In closing, I want to thank you for your support, patience, and perseverance as we navigated through all the schedule changes and safety protocols of this school year. We look forward to not only returning to a more “normal” school year, but building upon the new strengths and learning from this pandemic experience. Please stay healthy and safe this summer and as a reminder, if you have not yet completed this intent to return survey, please take a few minutes to submit your information to us to assist with planning for next year.
