The “Corky” Gonzales branch library has partnered with Colfax Elementary ever since they moved into the neighborhood in 2015. Librarians come every spring to Colfax’s Read Across America events; holding special story times during the school day and at Family Event nights. The “Corky” library brings fun hands-on activities to our Back-to-School and Carnival events, and partners with Colfax to promote the Summer Reading program.
Little Man Ice Cream Factory has been next door to Colfax Elementary since 2019 and has been partnering with the school ever since. Little Man generously supplies the school with ice cream for our back to school nights and perfect attendance parties. Colfax students have been able to visit and take tours of the Ice Cream Factory (and enjoy some treats!) Little Man hosts an annual holiday party, where Colfax students have performed for guest!
Blue Canyon Engineering partners with Colfax Elementary every year to bring exciting hands-on science experiments to students. Engineers also volunteer to judge entries in the Colfax Science Fair and help winners prepare for the DPS District Science Fair.
Colfax is proud to have composting and recycling at our school! Our Compost Club helps monitor the lunchroom and teach our littler Tigers how to compost. Our 5th grade leaders are in charge of recycling at Colfax and ensured class and school recycling bins are ready to use every day.
Colfax students get to showcase their art work every fall at the Lakewood Community Art Center and Gallery. The most recent shows were Let’s Glow and Day of the Dead.
Our neighborhood Starbucks has been a strong supporter of Colfax students and staff since they moved in next door in 2016. Starbuck regularly hosts an Art Gallery of Colfax student artwork and donates to Colfax staff and family events.
Brew Culture Coffee is a local business just down the street from Colfax Elementary. Brew Culture is a sponsor of our Colfax Chess Team and donates gifts for teacher appreciation week.
Alamo DraftHouse and Cinema moved in next door to Colfax in 2017 and has partnered with the school to bring many movie going experiences to our students and donations to the school’s spring Field Day and Carnival events and attendance parties. After the 5th grade Harry Potter reading challenge (read the whole series in the school year) students got to watch the movies at the theater. Classes regularly get to go see movie adaptations of books they’ve finished as a class!
Big Green teamed up with Colfax Elementary in 2015 to bring a Learning Garden to the school. Students get to plant, care for and watch their food grow! Every spring harvest, the Colfax community comes together for a Salad Party. Colfax has also participated in the Garden to Cafeteria program through the DPS Food & Nutrition Services.
Just down the street from Colfax, Seedstock Brewery has always been a supporter of the annual Trick or Treat Street event. Seedstock Brewery also donates to our Teach and Staff Appreciation week every year.
Colfax hosts three Family Event nights every year and Community Resources Inc. helps put those together. CRI also helps bring speakers to classrooms and assemblies for the whole school to enjoy.
Just down the street from Colfax, Confluence Ministries has been a long term partner with Colfax. Confluence provides a Whiz Kids tutoring program to students, Thanksgiving food baskets for Colfax families in need, and every year cooks up and serves the Colfax staff lunch for Teacher Appreciation week.
