About Me:

I have been fortunate enough to teach in Denver Public schools for 20 years. I love my job, I love the kids, I love the families, I love the neighborhood. I am proud to work at Colfax and plan on staying here as long as they will have me! I am married to my wonderful husband Joel. He is from Guatemala and just recently became a US citizen and is now a Guatemalan-American! I am thankful daily for his support and love. We have 2 children, Sofia and Aaron. My daughter is going into 9th grade (1st year of high school-yikes!)  and my son into 6th. Every year is fun, and every year is an adventure! I am always available to swap funny family stories with parents!

One of my favorite things about teaching is the ability to get to know children on a whole child level. Anything parents want to share about their hopes and dreams for their child, passions, interests etc. is wonderful. Thank you for your ongoing support and love as we navigate this special time together!

About Me:

I am so excited to be in my 12th year at Colfax! Over the years I’ve taught ECE, kindergarten (including Zoom kindergarten, which I don’t miss!) and now reading intervention. In addition to my reading groups, I get to support our teachers through coaching and professional development. I really love being a part of this community of learners.

As a reading interventionist, I work with students who need extra support to catch up on literacy skills. I pull small groups from different classrooms to work on skills students may be missing and provide some extra practice. I have always been a bookworm, and I’m passionate about supporting students to find ways to love reading too. I know that every child can learn to read fluently and feel successful with reading and writing, and I really appreciate being part of that journey for so many of our students.

I welcomed my daughter in June of 2025, so I’ll be spending this fall at home with her and returning to Colfax in January 2026.  When I’m not teaching, I enjoy dancing, hiking, and working on fiber crafts like knitting, spinning yarn, weaving, and sewing.
