Hello, my name is Elizabeth Duran. I’m originally from Ciudad Delicias, Chihuahua. I moved to Colorado in 1999. I worked for two years at Colfax as a Paraprofessional in special education, and now in my third year, I’m going to work as a paraprofessional helping the kindergarten class. I like working with children because every day I learn something new with them. I have three children of different ages. I never thought I’d like to help children who need more attention. I learned many new things taking care of such a special little person. I started working at Colfax because I like the way they treat the students and make them feel like family.

a Colorado en el año 1999. Trabajé dos años en Colfax como paraprofessional en
educación especial y ahora en mi tercer año voy a trabajar como paraprofesional
ayudando a la clase de kinder. Me gusta trabajar con los niños porque todos los días
aprendo algo nuevo, con ellos. Tengo 3 hijos de diferentes edades . Nunca pensé que
me gustaría ayudar a niños que necesitan más atención, aprendí muchas cosas
nuevas cuidando de una personita tan especial. Entre a trabajar a Colfax porque me
gusta como tratan a los estudiantes los hacen sentir como en Familia.

Hello my name is Mr. Carter. Since I was a child I have had a passion for teaching, for guiding, for igniting that spark that changes the world and If not the world at least the worlds of those I teach.
My path became ever clearer when I started working with living with and just existing around the special needs children, the constant learning how to connect, the wonders of the world through their special lenses. It started putting things into a new perspective and just brought such warmth and joy to my life and I hope to theirs as well. My heart forever grew working with each of them.
My journey, like so many, wasn’t a straight line and I was often and frequently off track. I wasn’t the best at school and it took me forever to achieve my degree. During which I pursued the wrong jobs and wasn’t being true to myself. In the end I found that I had the answer all along. I was meant to be a part of educating and supporting our present and our future. Ever since I started with DPS I have found a happiness and joy and peace that I value and cherish. This community is truly special. We are never done learning, and each and every day we have so many chances to increase our knowledge and grow, do your best to learn from all aspects of life, learn from your children, from a random face on the bus, learning is never limited to the classroom.
I am so thrilled to be a member of the Colfax Elementary family.

Mi nombre es Clarissa R. Lara, originaria de Cd. Juárez, Chih; pero resido en Denver desde el año 2000. Estudié en el Instituto Tecnológico de Cd. Juárez la carrera de Ingeniería Industrial con énfasis en Desarrollo de Personal.
Estoy feliz de regresar por tercer año a Colfax como Paraprofesional SPED1:1 pero he sido una madre de familia en DPS por más de 12 años. Tengo 4 hijos, todos ellos exitosos y producto de DPS. Como madre de familia reconozco y valoro todo lo que DPS ha hecho por mi familia, siendo un elemento fundamental en los logros de mis hijos, pero también entiendo que aún hay mucho que hacer. Es por eso que entiendo, valoro y decidí “pasarme al otro lado de la ecuación”, ahora como Paraprofesional, para colaborar en la educación y formación de muchos niños más. Me encanta ser parte de un grupo entusiasta de educadores (GO COLFAX TIGERS!) que sabemos que no hay límites en los sueños de nuestros hijos y quiero ser, como paraprofesional, quien les apoye, anime y deje una huella positiva especial en cada uno de los estudiantes que están a mi alrededor. Outside of school, I come from a close-knit family with two sisters and a younger brother. My love for helping and supporting others started at home and has grown into a passion for teaching. Hello, my name is Brenda Rivas and I am from Cd. Juárez Chihuahua Mexico, border with El Paso Texas. I am in my 4th year working as a special education aide and family liaison contact. But it is my ninth year being part of the Colfax Elementary community. I love spending time with my family and learning new things. I love working in Colfax because it is a very close-knit and hard-working community. I am very proud to be part of the Colfax family.

Pero es mi noveno año siendo parte de la comunidad de la primaria Colfax.Me encanta pasar tiempo con mi familia y aprender cosas nuevas.
