Hi, my name is Mirian Fonseca. I received my master’s degree in Education from UCLA. I have been working as a teacher for the past 8 years, the last 2 with Colfax.
I grew up in California and am a first-generation Latina. My parents were born in Guanajuato, Mexico and immigrated for better opportunities.
I am very excited to meet my future students, colleagues, and families in the coming months. We all have the same goal: students’ social & academic success. I would like all my students to leave me confident & with a positive view of themselves as mathematicians & readers. I have high expectations of all my students because I know they can reach them. But I know we also need a strong support system to facilitate our students’ success. That’s why I invite you to participate in different ways in our class. Can’t wait to see what we can do together.
Hola, me llamo Mirian Fonseca. Obtuve mi maestría en Educación en UCLA. He trabajado como maestra durante los últimos 8 años, los últimos 2 en Colfax.
Crecí en California y soy latina de primera generación. Mis padres nacieron en Guanajuato, México, y emigraron en busca de mejores oportunidades.
Estoy muy emocionada de conocer a mis futuros estudiantes, colegas y familias en los próximos meses. Todos tenemos el mismo objetivo: el éxito social y académico de los estudiantes. Me gustaría que todos mis estudiantes al final del año se sientan seguros y con una visión positiva de sí mismos como matemáticos y lectores. Tengo grandes expectativas para todos mis estudiantes porque sé que pueden alcanzarlas. Pero también sé que necesitamos un sólido sistema de apoyo para facilitar el éxito de nuestros estudiantes. Por eso los invito a participar de diferentes maneras en nuestra clase. No puedo esperar a ver lo que podemos hacer juntos.

About Me:
I have always had a passion for teaching. I love building new relationships with families and my students that I hope to continue after your child has left my classroom. I am a Denver Native and grew up in North Denver attending Valdez Elementary, Skinner Middle School, and graduating from North High School. I have a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education which I received from UNC. I have been in education for 28 years, 9 as a para and 18 as a teacher, all of which have been in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades. I am a mother of 3 grown children and a grandmother of 5. I love hiking, eating and hanging out with my besties. This is my 5th year as a Colfax Tiger and I am truly loving it. I look forward to instilling an excitement for learning in my littles this school year.
